Abstract

In January 2025, a year-on-year (y-on-y) inflation rate of 1.50 percent was recorded, with the Consumer Price Index (CPI) at 106.95. The highest y-on-y inflation occurred in the personal care and other services expenditure group at 7.92 percent, with a CPI of 114.82, while the lowest y-on-y inflation was observed in the housing, water, electricity, and household fuel expenditure group at -10.24 percent, with a CPI of 90.65.

The year-on-year inflation occurred due to price increases, as indicated by the rising indices of most expenditure groups, namely: the food, beverages, and tobacco group by 5.02 percent; the clothing and footwear group by 1.29 percent; the household equipment, appliances, and routine maintenance group by 0.79 percent; the health group by 4.52 percent; the transportation group by 0.39 percent; the recreation, sports, and culture group by 7.27 percent; the education group by 4.46 percent; the food and beverage services/restaurants group by 3.9 percent; and the personal care and other services group by 7.92 percent. Meanwhile, expenditure groups that experienced a decline in the index were the housing, water, electricity, and household fuel group by 10.24 percent and the information, communication, and financial services group by 1.47 percent.

The month-to-month (m-to-m) deflation rate for January 2025 was 0.60 percent, and the year-to-date (y-to-d) deflation rate for January 2025 was also 0.60 percent.
