Consumer Price Survey

Consumer Price Survey (SHK) is a price survey of transactions that occur between sellers (retail traders) and buyers (consumers). This survey is used as the basis for calculating the Consumer Price Index (CPI). The CPI is one of the strategic data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) which is needed as a basis for determining government policies. The percentage change in the CPI or better known as the inflation/deflation rate is an important economic indicator that is released at the beginning of each month. The purpose and benefit of this activity is to obtain complete, accurate and up to date consumer price data. The obtained Consumer Prices are used as the preparation of the CPI and to meet the data and information needs in order to support National Development. The frequency of data collection varies, namely weekly, biweekly, monthly, semi-annually, annually depending on the unit of observation (respondents) consisting of: retail traders (at Traditional/Modern/Outlet Markets), households (rent rates, contract rates, wages for house assistants household, baby sitter wages) and Institutions/Foundations/Companies (tuition fees, electricity tariffs, PAM water rates). The Consumer Price Survey (HK) in Sukabumi Municipality involved 15 enumerators (PCS) and 5 supervisors/investigators.
